Can't believe a week has passed since I arrived at EOTR. This time last week I was probably experiencing the thrills of Californian heavy blues duo Deap Vally (think I previously mis-spelt their name - apologies go out to DV). They warned the audience it was going to be loud (unusual) and it was. The warm-up night audience generously lapped it up and unlike Dinosaur Jr who were similarly loud/heavy on the final night (more later) there wasn't a melody in sight. That's no good for me in 2013. In truth it never has been. As I said last week there 5 bands on the night all from the Communion record label/promotions roster including soon to be Boro faves Catfish and the Bottlemen . The singer, Van McCann (I'm not buying that's real) is a genuine hoot and a half as well so Teesside people join me at The Westgarth on 8 October. Overall I counted up that I saw 50 bands/artists over the 4 days and much of it very good or better ...
It looks really good now!
ReplyDeleteHappy eighth birthday too. Mine is only seven, as of last September, and I think that it really needs a refresh too, but I'm not sure what that might involve.
Thanks a lot. I remember your birthday is September. Think it was the first conversation we had. Very happy with changes thanks Rich. I was told the old format was quite difficult to read with the photo behind so I thought I would give it a full re-vamp. It's based on one of Blogger's templates. I have to change all the photos I put in the sidebars into gifs of a specific width (probably an easier way) but it's not too bad once you get into the swing.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is also a simple Blogger template but I forget which one! All sidebar photos I use are resized to 320px (horizontal), always .jpg format (it happens but that is not material) as that is the largest it will display correctly. Those incorporated in the body text are typically 750px horizontal but I have to say that is somewhat variable because it does not seem to matter so much. I loved the industrial photos too - I must get out with my camera if it ever stops raining down here in Somerset.
ReplyDeleteI really must write some new content this weekend.
Yep, much more readable, Geoff!
