Tuesday in Billingham

So let's go pop music, again.

Day 1 of the year and Sham and I completed our first walk, a 6 mile jaunt along the Castle Eden walkway.  I wanted to walk along the Fiscal Cliff from Saltburn to Runswick Bay but Shamila wisely over-ruled me.

It was good to dust off the cobwebs, going to the gym is no substitute for power walking in the fresh air.  Weather permitting we'll be out again Friday and Saturday (10 and 10).  We've targetted 50 walks again for the year again and they won't walk themselves.

Watched Hugh Tenaney's (aka Jools Holland) pre-recorded New Years Eve bash last night as per. It was the predictable mash-up of up and old timers, has beens, up and comers and the token indie type. Maybe my disposition was improved by the bottle of champagne and 2 large vodka and cokes I put away but I enjoyed it.

Old timers - Petula Clark, Bobby Womack and The Dubliners
Has beens - Ex-Akrylykz (I kept telling Shamila I'd seen him at The (real) Empire in the Boro), Roland Gift, Dexys and Adam Ant
Up and comers - Emeli Sande, Paloma Faith, Lianne La Havas (bloody hell some names eh?) and Jake Bugg
Token indie types - The Hives

And it was all just generally good apart from Dexys who were an unexpected delight.  I know I've been there before and there is something about you had to be there back in the day but I'll argue Come on Eileen all night long or at least after half a skinful.

Work tomorrow.  Boo... but it will soon be Friday, hurrah!

I'll leave you with a photo of a small town centre in Teesside taken around lunch-time today.  I suspect it will remain grim up north all year.
